Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at littlemoodysearlylearning@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Little Moody's Early Learning serves children ages 3 to 5, providing a nurturing space for preschool and kindergarten readiness. We believe in meeting children where they are and helping them build a strong foundation through play, exploration, and creativity.

I started with my own child around 2 years old. Nothing structured or overwhelming, just simple and fun activities. We began with reading together, talking about colors, and easy playtime games. Those little moments sparked so much curiosity. Over time, learning became something they looked forward to, and it naturally grew into a joyful part of our everyday routine.

Not at all! What children need most is love, patience, and someone who believes in them. I created my program as a parent, not as a classroom teacher, and that perspective helps me make learning simple and approachable. If you can read, play, and encourage, you can absolutely support your child’s learning.

You don’t need to spend hours sitting at a table. A little goes a long way! Even 15–30 minutes of focused activities can make a big difference. Children thrive on short, playful bursts of learning mixed into their everyday routines.

In our home, we currently spend about 1 to 1.5 hours each weekday, but it never feels heavy or overwhelming. We mix it up with a read-aloud or book, introducing new vocabulary words, working in our coloring and activity book, a worksheet, outdoor play, and indoor games. Each activity typically ranges anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on attention spans and interest. Keeping things flexible helps learning feel fun and natural.

That’s completely normal! Every child learns at their own pace and in their own way. Keep it light, keep it fun, and follow their lead. Try weaving learning into activities they already enjoy — singing songs, drawing, or even helping in the kitchen. Interest grows when children feel relaxed and engaged.

Absolutely! Play is how children make sense of the world. Whether they’re stacking blocks, pretending to cook, or exploring outside, they’re practicing problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking. The beauty of play is that children are learning without even realizing it!

Yes! The activities and lessons are designed to build confidence, early literacy and math skills, and social-emotional growth. But just as important, your child will develop a love for learning — something that will carry them well beyond kindergarten.

That’s okay! Even tiny pockets of learning make a big impact. A five-minute read-aloud at bedtime, pointing out letters on a grocery store sign, or singing a silly counting song in the car all count. Little moments sprinkled throughout your day can be just as powerful as longer activities.

Not at all! Movement is a big part of learning at this age. If your child is wiggly, lean into it — try action songs, hopscotch letters, or a scavenger hunt for colors and shapes. Learning doesn’t have to happen in a chair.

You don’t need fancy or expensive materials. A few basics like crayons, paper, scissors, and glue go a long way. Add in household items like measuring cups, playdough, and building blocks, and you’ve got everything you need for fun, hands-on learning.

Every parent feels this way at some point — it’s completely normal to wonder if you’re giving your child enough. But here’s the truth: your love, presence, and encouragement matter far more than perfection. Children don’t need a perfectly structured lesson plan or hours of formal practice — what they need is you.

Even the smallest steps count. Reading a book together before bed, pointing out the colors you see on a walk, singing a silly song while cooking dinner — these little moments build a strong foundation for learning. They may feel simple, but to your child, they are everything.

Remember, children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and celebrated. You don’t have to do it all at once. Some days might look full of activities, while others are lighter and more playful — both are okay. What matters most is that your child feels connected to you and excited to discover the world around them. That is more than enough.

Look for the little signs — they’re often the biggest clues! Your child might start pointing out letters on a sign at the store, suddenly use a new word in conversation, or “teach” you something they’ve picked up during play. These moments may seem small, but they’re actually huge milestones that show your child is making connections.

Progress doesn’t always show up in a worksheet or a perfectly written letter. In fact, most of the best learning at this age happens in play and everyday conversation. When your child sings a counting song, tells you what color their cup is, or remembers a story you read together, that’s real learning in action.

It’s also important to remember that growth looks different for every child. Some kids make big leaps all at once, while others grow steadily and quietly. Both are completely normal. Trust the process and celebrate those little wins — they add up more than you realize.

That’s the beauty of learning at home — you can adapt to your child’s pace and style. Some kids enjoy worksheets and coloring, while others thrive with hands-on play, outdoor adventures, or storytelling. There’s no “one right way” to learn, and that flexibility is what makes early learning at home so powerful.

When you lean into what excites your child, you’ll start to notice their unique strengths shine through. Maybe they light up when you read aloud and talk about the story, or maybe they can spend an hour happily building towers and figuring out how things fit together. Both are learning — just in different ways.

The goal isn’t to make your child learn like everyone else, but to nurture their natural curiosity and celebrate the way they learn best. When children feel understood and supported, confidence grows, and learning becomes something they look forward to instead of something they resist.
